I don't really have anything to blog about because I haven't read more of Life as it Comes. Sorry Mrs. West! I'm going to read more of my book tonight, so hopefully I'll blog sometime soon.

In the Time of the Butterflies - ch. 11 thoughts

It was hard to read about the Mate's struggles in prison. How the guards treated the women, how the other prisoners treated them, and how the conditions were terrible. I think that it's so unfair that the government took these politicals away and then treated them so poorly just because they disagreed with the government and Trujillo. There were a few things I didn't quite understand. First, did Mate give birth? I didn't understand when the quote said: "Just this- I've either bled a baby or had a period"(240). She was talking earlier about wanting a second child, but I didn't follow if she actually had one or not. Second, I didn't understand what happend when Mate was sent to La 40 to be interrogated. As the plot progresses, I think it's getting more interesting to read, but at the same time, it gets a little bit more confusing.

In the Time of Butterflies

I think that the book is getting really interesting, but at the same time, it's confusing. In chapter 9, it was sad to read about the sisters getting arrested. Each of them have a very sad story, and there was alot of emotion. Dede thinks she might get arrested because all of her sisters were, but I don't think she will because she is the only surviving sister. I think the book is confusing because the author puts in unnecessary things in the book and it just confuses me.

Life As It Comes- ch. 1-6

I just started reading Life As It Comes by Anne-Laure Bondoux. I think it's a really easy read, but it's an interesting book. Mado is a very studious teen who had to move in with her older sister Patty after their parents were killed in a car accident. It's interesting to read about how they deal with eachother now that their parnets are gone. It was really surprising to find out that Patty was pregnant. She's just 20 years old, and Mado thinks that Patty can barely take care of herself. I think that going through this pregnancy will bring the sisters closer together, and even more once the baby is actually born.

In the Time of Butterflies/Outside Reading

I don't have my Outside Reading book yet but I will soon! Sorry Mrs. West! But I guess I'll talk about In the Time of the Butterflies. I think it's a very interesting book, but I think that alot of it is irrelevent to the story. I really want to find out what the sisters do that get them killed and what happens to Lio.
